Meet CCF at COP17: Accelerating Global Biodiversity Framework Implementation Through Technology

Connected Conservation Foundation (CCF) is attending COP17 in Yerevan, Armenia, to connect with governments and conservation partners working to turn global biodiversity commitments into measurable action.

As countries review progress towards the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF), attention is shifting from setting ambitious targets to accelerating their implementation. With just four years remaining until 2030, the challenge is not only what needs to be achieved, but how governments and conservation organisations can establish the enabling conditions to deliver.

At CCF we're helping governments, conservation organisations and protected area managers strengthen the technology ecosystems, digital governance and technical expertise required to achieve their goals. Technology has enormous potential to support conservation, but lasting impact requires more than technology alone. It depends on strong operating models, appropriate digital infrastructure and skilled local teams equipped to use and sustain these systems.

Accelerating implementation

The technologies and data needed to support biodiversity action already exist, but turning their potential into far-reaching impacts takes a little work. Fragmented systems, limited interoperability, connectivity gaps and shortages in the right expertise can all hinder effective implementation.

CCF works with partners to understand the challenges, identify existing strengths and develop practical next steps for implementation, providing digital roadmaps to help support Biodiversity priorities.

One entry point is the Biodiversity Conservation Digital Readiness Assessment (BC-DRA), co-developed with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The BC-DRA assessment helps partners evaluate their digital readiness across technology systems, data governance, regulatory frameworks, connectivity infrastructure and institutional capacity at a national and local level. The process provides a foundation for prioritising digital investments, strengthening cross-sector coordination and developing secure, integrated systems that support biodiversity monitoring, actions and reporting.

Come and connect with us at COP17

We’ll be sharing experiences, exchanging ideas and exploring how the right digital foundations can help turn your biodiversity ambitions into action.

Join us at the Biodiversity Technology and Innovation Expo:
28–30 October 2026 | Booth 37 | COP17 Blue Zone, Yerevan, Armenia

CCF will also contribute to two panel discussions exploring how digital transformation, AI, and connectivity can support global biodiversity ambitions:

23 October | 10:00–12:00 | UN Pavilion, Blue Zone
Digital and Technology Dialogues: Accelerating Biodiversity Action through Digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

24 October | 16:00–17:00 | Green Zone
